What’s Up?
We would like to share our experience and activities when we were join ICAS Conference about “ Assessment for Better Teaching Outcomes” with special guest Mr. Greg Reid. He is assessment project officer at EAA, UNSW Global. The other guest was Mr. Liam Hammer. Currently , he is employed as the Vice Principal (Secondary) at Global Jaya International School .
He is the Chair of the Indonesian IB MYP Coordinator’s Network (Dunia), sits on the Executive Commitee of the Association of National Plus Schools of Indonesia (ANPS) and represents the IB Asia Pacific as an IB Recognition Ambassador.
The other guest were teachers from SD AL Muslim Surabaya, Rr. Martiningsih. In 2013 she received first place as Surabaya’s Top Achiever Teacher from the City Mayor of Surabaya.
The fourth guest was Fifi Anggraini Donohadi, M.Pd. She Has been a teacher since 1996 and a IBYP trainer since 2008. Currently she is working as PYP Coordinator together with Ms. Early Kurnia at Sekolah Victory Plus, Bekasi, and actievly participates in IBYP training in Schools in South East Asia.
This conference was really Interesting. It started on Friday, 13 June 2014 until Saturday, 14 June 2014.
At. 7:30 am– 3:00 pm. There were four sessions. The topic of Session 1 was “Developing effective assessments” by Mr. Greg Reid. The Topic of Session 2 was “Authentic Assessment” by Ms. Fifi and Ms. Early. After that they informed us about what’s new from ICAS. Session 3 was unforgetable moment, because the presenter (Ms. Rr. Martiningsih from surabaya) was really funny.
The last session was about “Assesing higher-order thinking (HOT) skills”. On Saturday, 14 June 2014 it was about “Otimising educational outcomes through effective school-based assessment (SBA)”. Session 2 was about “An introduction into the principles of effective Assessment”. Session 3 was “Using ICAS result to inform teaching and understanding data analysis”. The last session was” Building assessment for learning communities”.
There is a benefit of joining this conference, we can make a good relation with other teachers also sharing about our experience. It also really inspires us to be good teacher and improves our teaching and learning methods.

Hello Gus....., Whats up?
Pada tanggal 7 Juni 2014 Sekolah Nasional Plus Darma Bangsa, Bandar Llampung, Indonesiamengadakan acara “Graduation” untuk siswa SD kelas 6, SMP kelas 9 dan SMA kelas 3. Jumlah untuk siswa SMA sebanyak 29 siswa, Siswa SMP 8 siswa, dan siswa SD terdapat 8 siswa. Sehingga jumlah keseluruhan siswa sebanyak 64 siswa. Tetapi acara tersebut dihadiri oleh 61 siswa karena terdapat 1 siswa yang tidak hadir pada masing-masing jenjang.
Meskipun demikian acara tetap berjalan dengan lancar. Acara ini di mulai Pkl. 08.00-12.00 yang dihadiri oleh Orang Tua/Wali. Walaupun kelulusan untuk jenjang SD dan SMP belum diumumkan tetapi kami semua sangat optimis akan lulus 100%.
Hal yang paling tidak terlupakan pada acara ini adalah saat pengumuman “The Best Graduate” . Siswa yang dinobatkan sebagai The Best Graduate mendapatkan penghargaan dari sekolah dan speech di depan para Orang Tua dan guru. Itu adalah pengalaman yang sangat membanggakan.
Menjelang akhir acara, semua siswa kedepan dan menyanyikan beberapa lagu, salah satunya adalah lagu yang berjudul “Terima Kasih Guruku” . Saat menyanyikan lagu itu, suasana berubah menjadi haru dan ada beberapa guru yang berlinangan air mata karena merasa terharu dan bangga.
Acara terakhir adalah sesi foto-foto dengan guru dan orang tua sebagai kenang-kengan yang tidak akan pernah terlupakan.
