Mou Sister School SDB & Brighton Grammar School, Australia

Sekolah Darma Bangsa (SDB) Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Indonesia melakukan memorandum of understanding (MoU) dengan Brighton Grammar School Australia yang dilakukan di sekolah setempat, Senin (5/2).

MoU dihadiri Head of Darma Bangsa Foundation Lidwina Heryani, Board of Adviser Sekolah Darma Bangsa Wardiman Djojonegoro, Director of Advancement Brighton Grammar School John Philips, Director of Business and Support Services Brighton Grammar School Michael Arceri, perwakilan dari Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Provinsi Lampung Kholina, dan disaksikan perwakilan wali murid dan sejumlah siswa.

Lidwina Heryani mengatakan kerja sama dilakukan sebagai upaya untuk memenuhi persyaratan satuan pendidikan kerja sama (SPK), mulai dari jenjang TK sampai dengan SMA.

"Pada dasarnya sekolah Darma Bangsa ini adalah sekolah nasional plus yang tetap menjalankan kurikulum nasional. Tetapi juga harus memiliki hubungan kerja sama dengan sekolah negara luar, dan saling berbagi pengetahuan tentang kebudayaan, bertukar informasi mengenai kurikulum, metode mengajar, sumber belajar dan program sekolah. Melalui program sister school ini, para murid SDB dan Brighton juga dapat bertukar informasi mengenai tugas sekolah dan E pen pals yang akan menjadikan murid Darma Bangsa memiliki wawasan international dengan masih menjunjung budaya bangsanya.”

Ia mengatakan, Brighton Grammar School Australia adalah sekolah yang telah berdiri sejak 1882 dan merupakan salah satu sekolah unggulan di Melbourne. Mereka mengajarkan para siswa tentang lifeskills dan karakter, pembelajaran didesign dengan gaya belajar student center, peran guru adalah sebagai fasilitator. di Brighton School juga mengajarkan untuk berpikir kreatif dan membangun karakter siswa menjadi berkualitas.

Menurutnya, Darma Bangsa dengan Brighton Grammar School mempunyai banyak kemiripan dalam penerapan sistem pendidikan. Seperti karakter, visi, dan misi, sehingga dapat berkolaborasi dalam menjalankan pendidikan yang searah.

"Sebelum memutuskan kerja sama, kami terlebih dahulu mendatangi Brighton Grammar School di Australia. Setelah melihat sistem pendidikan di sana sangat cocok bila diterapkan di Darma Bangsa, karena visi dan misinya hampir sama," ujar Lidwina.

Ia berharap dengan dilakukannya kerja sama dalam Brighton Grammar School dan Sekolah Darma Bangsa, kita dapat menciptakan generasi berkualitas dan mampu bersaing di kancah internasional.

"Sekolah kami mempunyai moto sebagai akar bangsa dengan berpikir global artinya kakinya tetap di Lampung sebagai orang Lampung tetapi mempunyai pemikiran luas guna menghasilkan generasi modern yang dapat dibawa ke tingkat dunia," kata dia.

SMA Darma Bangsa Homestay 2017

Sekolah Darma Bangsa, Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Indonesia, on Sunday, around 06.30 am the 11th graders came to school and had a briefing about series of activities during homestay. Then, around 08.00 am the students and teachers entered the bus and started the trip to Wanurejo village, Magelang.

On the next day, they did not realize that it was already at 04:15 am. The trip on the previous night was running well. After that, the bus stopped at a local restaurant in Magelang. The weather in that morning was very cold. The cold water they used for ablution was felt into our bone. Then, they prayed and after that returned to the restaurant.

Students, teachers and travel crews had breakfast which was already prepared by the restaurant's chef. Unexpectedly, when the sun shone over the darkness of the place they saw a beautiful panorama in that morning. The flowing river, the sun shine in the morning and the crowing roaster became the objects of sight and hearing indirectly. After that, they continued the trip.

After a few minutes, they arrived at their homestay location. They met the owner and had little chat with him. Then, the students were divided into three groups, five students in a group, and a teacher to accompany them stayed in the homestay. After that, they did their first activity, making pottery. They were guided by the worker there. they were exited learning how to make it.

On Tuesday morning, they woke up early to see sunrise. They drove a Jeep to go to Punthuk Setumbu. The teachers also joined them. The weather this morning was so cold, but it did not bother them because the beautiful sunrise would pay for this. Then, at 09.00 am they had breakfast. After that, they continued the activities to make batik and traditional food called rengginang. 

On Wednesday, after having breakfast we went up hill. They drove a pickup truck to go there. After they arrived, the owner of homestay told the history of Magelang City. They enjoyed the view of mountains around us. After that, they learned how to play Gamelan in a place not far from the hill. After having a great time playing Gamelan, they went back to homestay and continued the activity sculpting bamboo with the local villagers.

On the next day, they had a farewell with the owner of homestay. Then, they went to Yogyakarta. After arriving there, they bought some local souvenirs. Then they continued the trip to De Mata. They took some pictures with unique backgrounds. After having fun, they went to POP Hotel to have a rest before they went back to Bandar Lampung.

On Saturday afternoon, they arrived at Sekolah Darma Bangsa and said goodbye with the travel crews. They had really unforgettable moment during homestay.

Hari Guru Nasional 2017

Pahlawan tanpa tanda jasa, begitulah slogan yang melekat dalam jiwa seorang guru. Hal itu seakan berarti tak ada satupun tanda yang dapat mewakili jasa-jasa guru untuk mencerdasakan serta menjadikan seseorang menjadi lebih berkarakter. Namun, untuk tetap mengenang jasa para guru, pemerintah Republik Indonesia dengan Keputusan Presiden Nomor 78 Tahun 1994, menetapkan hari lahir PGRI setiap tanggal 25 November sebagai Hari Guru Nasional.  Atas dasar itulah, Kami Sekolah Darma Bangsa, Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Indonesia turut memperingati Hari Guru Nasional 2017. Peringatan Hari Guru Nasional di Sekolah Darma Bangsa tidak hanya semata-mata perayaan saja, melainkan hari di mana semua guru melakukan refleksi dan semua murid memberikan apriseasi kepada para guru. Ada beberapa kegiatan yang dilakukan di Hari Guru Nasional setiap tahunnya. Pada tahun ini (2017) peringatan Hari Guru Nasional memiliki tiga kegiatan yaitu upacara bendera, pencil project, dan sport day. 

Peringatan Hari Guru Nasional di Sekolah Darma Bangsa dimulai dengan kegiatan upacara bendera pada pukul 07.35. Sama halnya dengan upacara pada umumnya, hanya saja petugas upacara pada Hari Guru Nasional ini dilakukan oleh para guru. Setelah upacara bendera, siswa-siswi Sekolah Darma Bangsa memberikan persembahan kepada semua guru. Persembahan dimulai dari siswa-siswi SD membacakan puisi dan pertunjukan drama memerankan keseharian guru di sekolah. Berbeda dengan siswa/ siswi SD, siswa SMA memberikan persembahan dalam bentuk pembacaan puisi yang berisi  curahan hati kepada guru yang telah mendidiknya.

Usai pembacaan puisi dan ucapan terima kasih sebuah banner bertuliskan Happy Teacher Day dibentangkan untuk memberikan kejutan kepada para guru. Sedikit berbeda dengan persembahan SD, siswa/ siswi SMP, mempersembahkan drama singkat penjelasan tentang arti nama-nama kelas mereka dan beberapa anak berpenampilan seperti guru. Hal itu dilakukan sebagai bentuk penghormatan terhadap guru-guru mereka. Sebagai penutup para pemimpin, guru, staff, dan siswa bersama-sama melepaskan burung dara yang telah diberi harapan dari guru-guru akan masa depan yang lebih baik. Sebelum persembahan selesai pada pukul 09.20, siswa SMP mempersembahkan permainan drum band  dengan lagu Terima Kasih Guru. 

Acara selanjutnya adalah pencil project dan sport day. Kedua acara tersebut dilaksanakan dalam waktu yang bersamaan. Hanya saja berbeda tempat pelaksanaannya.  Kegiatan pencil project dilakukan oleh siswa/ siswi SD dan NTK di area kantin dan lapangan upacara. Kegiatan ini merupakan kegiatan bazar pada umumnya. Hanya saja di pencil project ini, anak-anak menjual hasil karya mereka sendiri atau barang-barang keperluan sekolah lainnya. Hasil dari kegiatan ini nantinya akan disumbangkan kepada masyarakat yang membutuhkan. Selain siswa, semua yang datang ke Sekolah Darma Bangsa pun dapat membeli barang-barang yang dijual di bazar. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk membangkitkan rasa peduli antar sesama. 

Tepat pada pukul 09.35, di area lapangan basket sudah bersiap-siap karyawan, staff, guru, dan siswa/ siswi SMP dan SMA untuk melakukan senam bersama. Selain senam bersama, sport day di isi dengan berbagai kegiatan olahraga seperti voli antar guru, bulu tangkis, catur, futsal, dan renang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan sebagai bentuk untuk konsistensi program OSIS (Sport Day) dan juga sebagai ajang keakraban antar warga Sekolah Darma Bangsa.

Dengan demikian seluruh rangkaian peringatan Hari Guru Nasional di Sekolah Darma Bangsa berjalan dengan lancar dan hikmat. Kegiatan ini akan menjadi kegiatan yang konsisten dilakukan setiap tahunnya.

Acara Closing Semester & Natal 2017

Setiap tahun Sekolah Darma Bangsa mengadakan acara Closing Semester dan  merayakan Hari Natal. Tepat pada tanggal 12 Desember 2017, acara yang telah disusun sedemikian rupa dan penuh pertimbangan berdasarkan persetujuan Owner telah dilaksanakan dengan penuh semangat. Penutupan semester merupakan acara puncak kegiatan selama semester I (satu) dimana siswa akan mempresentasikan kemampuan mereka khususnya dalam bidang seni seperti; seni suara, tari, drama dan musik. Siswa juga dapat mengembangkan nilai-nilai karakter (SDB Core Values) yang telah ditetapkan misalnya, kreativitas (mengembangkan bakat yang telah ada), percaya diri (lebih berani tampil di depan khalayak ramai), dan menghargai (toleransi antar umat beragama).

Acara yang di mulai pada pukul 08.30 di awalai dengan menyanyikan lagu Indonesia Raya dan Mars Darma Bangsa dan dibuka oleh MC yaitu Ms. Fitri dengan kedua siswa SMA, Daffa dan  Bintang yang sangat apik dalam membangkitkan semangat penonton. sebelum di mulainya acara sambutan yang pertama disampaikan oleh Headmaster SDB Bpk. Dr. Tri Jalmo, M.Si.

Peringatan Hari Guru Nasional di Sekolah Darma Bangsa dimulai dengan kegiatan upacara bendera pada pukul 07.35. Sama halnya dengan upacara pada umumnya, hanya saja petugas upacara pada Hari Guru Nasional ini dilakukan oleh para guru. Acara dimulai dengan mempersiapkan segala kebutuhan untuk Closing Semester dan untuk perayaan Hari Raya Natal tahun ini SDB mengangkat tema “Biarkan Kedamaian dan Kebahagiaan Menuntun Hati dan Hidup Kita” (Let Peace and Happiness Rule Your Heart and Your Life ). Acara Natal juga di pandu oleh Mc yang sangat energic dan mampu membawa suasana khidmat dalam kegiatan keagamaan. sehingga terasa sangat khusuk didalam hall B.

Acara yang dilaksanakan di Hall B Sekolah Darma Bangsa, Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Indonesia  yang dihadiri oleh orang tua siswa dari TK, SD, SMP dan SMA. Tambah semaraknya acara Closing Semester dan menyambut hari Raya Natal dengan penampilan dari anak didik Sekolah Darma Bangsa. TK menampilkan anak didiknya yang sangat lucu-lucu dan menggemaskan, tidak kalah juga dari departemen SD menampilkan mini drama yang diperankan oleh anak-anak yang sangat berbakat. selain dari TK dan SD  penampilan mengagumkan pun di tampilkan oleh siswa SMP yaitu membacakan puisi serta bernyanyi dengan tema yang sedang ramai di perbincangkan tahun ini, sedangkan siswa siswi SMA menampilan kemampuan mereka bermain alat musik tradisional  lampung yaitu “gamelan”. Selain bermain alat musik tradisional juga ada modern dance yang mereka kreasikan dengan beatbox.

Acara ini bertujuan untuk mengapresiasi kerja keras guru dan siswa/i Sekolah Darma Bangsa, karena selama satu semester ini sudah bekerjas keras dalam mendidik siswa untuk menjadi pribadi yang tidak hanya cerdas dalam akademik namun juga menjadi siswa yang berkarakter di sekolah maupun di lingkungan masyarakat dan di rumah.

Dengan demikian seluruh rangkaian kegiatan Closing Semester dan Hari Raya Natal di Sekolah Darma Bangsa berjalan dengan lancar dan hikmat. Kegiatan ini akan menjadi kegiatan yang konsisten dilakukan setiap tahunnya.

Outdoor Class Room Day di SMP Darma Bangsa

Outdoor learning activities is a learning methodology which is conducted outside the class. Outdoor learning is more effective for developing cognitive skills. Learning outdoors can be enjoyable, creative, challenging and adventurous and helps children and young people learn by experience and grow as confident and responsible citizens. There are strategic objectives towards outdoor learining activities:

 

  1. Smarter – Outdoor learning promotes lifelong learning and develops critical thinking skills
  2. Safer and stronger – Outdoor learning activities span social divisions and can help build stronger communities. Children and young people have opportunities to develop skills to assess and manage risk when making decisions
  3. Greener – Frequent and regular outdoor learning encourages children and young people to engage with the natural and built heritage. 
  4. Wealthier and fairer – The outdoors provides excellent opportunities to use a wide range of skills and abilities not always visible in the classroom. Becoming aware of such skills can fundamentally change personal, peer and staff perceptions and lead to profound changes in life expectations and success.

There are three subject which are carried out by using outdoor learning activities, they are Art, Physic and Biology.

a. ART

The students are going to paint with Acrylic. The theme is about “Impresionisme”. There are some things that are being prepared by nine graders students. Things that should be prepared: 

  1. Canvas
  2. Acrylic paint. There are blue marine, dark green, light green, yellow whose color is like lemon, yellow, saffron, white, dark chocolate and light chocolate.
  3. Painting brush special for acrylic paint in some sizes, such as big painting brush, small painting brush, flat painting brush and pointy painting brush.
  4. Palette or Styrofoam dishes
  5. Glass or special media to wash the painting brush
  6. Tissue 
  7. Folding table (optional)
  8. Mat (every class must prepare)

b. PHYSIC

The students of eight graders will do some activities as described below:

1. The students are going to make Soda Pop Can Hero Engine. The important things are:

    • Empty soda pop can with the opener lever intact
    • Nail or ice pick
    • Fishing line
    • Bucket or tub of water

2. The students are going to pull out the tablecloth (Newton’s First Law) and quick Flick. The things should be prepared are:

    • 4 tablecloths
    • 4 jars of glass
    • Dies (small stones)
    • Sheets of paper
    • Water

3. The students are going to make balloon rocket (Newton’s Third Law).These are the things that they need:

    • Balloons
    • Kite string
    • Tape
    • Straw

4. The students are going to measure time which is inversely proportional to the acceleration. They need things such as:

    • Cars
    • Load period
    • Inclined plane

5. The students are going to test the gravity. What do they need? Let’s check:

Various objects to drop (small stones, big stones, sheet of paper, coins, ball (tennis ball), ball bearing.

The purposes of this activity are:

  1. Demonstrate how thing that falls down freely from the same height.
  2. Compare the effect of the air friction upon the free falling objects with different density.
  3. Differentiate the horizontal and vertical movement by throwing things in a horizontal way which is followed by dropping the other things.

 c. BIOLOGY

These are the things that they should prepare:

Two samples of plants.

  • They will differentiate whether these plants are included as monocotyl or dicotyl plants. 
  • They will use plants that they can observe directly in field.
  • The students will be divided into groups to make the classification of monocotyl and dicotyl plants.

 dMATHEMATIC

The students of seventh grader are going to deal with Math subject. They are going to study Compound and they will do Role Play Game activities.  Here, we can see that both of the teacher and the students are very enthusiastic to prepare all things that will be used in the special event. Outdoor learning activity will be conducted in today (September 7th, 2017) in Sekolah Darma Bangsa. These are the things that they should prepare:

  1. Number cards
  2. Raffia string 
  3. Leaves
  4. Paper
  5. Colorful ribbon / colorful paper.

The students of this class are going to play one of the games based on Mathematic subject. The game is Role Play. Furthermore, I will report the scenario of the Role Play game.

  1. Teacher distributes number card to the students. 
  2. Teacher will mention A-Compound group and B-Compound group.
  3. The students belongs to the member of the A-Compound group and B-Compound group must stand in front of the other students.
  4. Teacher asks both of the compound groups to join in a certain place that has been set by the teachers (raffia string is set to Venn Diagra, so that the students can sit there).
  5. All the members, who are in the set area, are the combination of the groups from A-Compound group and B-Compound group.

It is clearly that the students can be directly involved and interacted two ways with teachers. There will be communication between teachers and students, so the students will not be afraid to ask the difficulties.

The methodology :

Second step: Looking for leaves

The aim         : Define the compound

Steps :

The teacher will ask the students to find and pick the leaves based on criteria that has been said by the teacher.

  1. The students will paste in the paper based on certain criteria.
  2. The students will explain the definition of the compound.

Third Step: Playing with colorful ribbon

The aim : Enable the students to understand the concept of compound grouping based on the similarities of the compound member. 

Steps:

  1. The students will prepare colorful ribbon or raffia string or colorful paper.
  2. The students will separate the ribbon randomly on the table.
  3. The students will be grouping the ribbon based on certain criteria, for example the same size, the same color, the same color and size, the same shape and size, and etc.
  4. The students will paste the ribbon compound into Venn diagram. 
  5. The students will define Venn diagram.

The fifth step:

The students will do Worksheet 1 and 2 in group

e. BAHASA INDONESIA AND ENGLISH

The students will learn about news. The theory of news such as how to make the introduction, the content and the closing will be taught. The integrated subject between Bahasa Indonesia and English can be seen through the way the students report it by using English. 

Well-constructed and well-planned outdoor learning helps develop the skills of enquiry, critical thinking and reflection necessary for the students to meet the social, economic and environmental challenges of life in the 21st century. Outdoor learning connects the students with the natural world, culture and society. It also encourages lifelong involvement and activity in SDB.
