The atmosphere of grandeur and enthusiasm filled the stage during the performance of “Gajah Mada The Musical,” presented by students of Darma Bangsa School on April 12, 2026. This production, involving students from Grade 8 (Middle School) and Grade 11 (High School), successfully delivered a colossal performance that was not only visually stunning but also left a deep emotional impression on all attendees.

Held in two sessions—the first at 10:00 AM and the second at 3:00 PM—the show managed to attract hundreds of spectators, predominantly parents. Cheers, applause, moments of emotion, pride, and awe continuously accompanied the performance from beginning to end. Many parents were visibly moved watching their children perform with such confidence and extraordinary artistic skill on a grand stage.

“Gajah Mada The Musical” is more than just an ordinary drama. It is a multidimensional work of art that blends various elements:

  • Musical drama and theatrical music.
  • Traditional and modern dance, including contemporary dance.
  • The traditional martial art of Silat.
  • Grand lighting and cinematic videatrons.
  • An emotionally charged and touching love story.

All these elements merged into a performance that was alive, dynamic, and full of energy.

A Journey of Heroism and Humanity

By highlighting the story of the great Nusantara figure, Gajah Mada, the play showcases more than just heroism and historical struggle; it also portrays the human side and love stories that strengthen the emotional narrative. The audience was invited to dive into the journey of ambition, sacrifice, loyalty, and the internal conflicts of Gajah Mada, all wrapped in a modern and stunning artistic package.

From the moment the curtain rose, a majestic atmosphere was immediately felt. The stage design, supported by videotron technology, brought the epic and cinematic visuals of the Majapahit Kingdom to life. Every scene transition was smooth and dramatic, bolstered by a musical score that heightened the audience’s emotions.

The cast demonstrated incredible total immersion. The students displayed strong characterization, emotional dialogue, and energetic, well-organized choreography.

  • War Scenes: The battle sequences combined with Silat were among the most breathtaking moments.
  • Precision: Sharp, synchronized, and spirited movements kept the audience captivated.
  • Cultural Fusion: The mix of traditional and modern dance showcased the creativity of the younger generation in preserving culture with a contemporary touch.

On the other hand, the romantic drama elements served as a powerful emotional anchor. The audience did not just enjoy a historical performance but also felt the dynamics of the relationships between characters, beautifully built by the performers. Tears of joy, smiles of pride, and occasional laughter echoed from the seats throughout the show.

Collaboration and Character Development

The success of “Gajah Mada The Musical” was undoubtedly the result of hard work and a massive collaboration between all parties involved. Executive Producer Reymund Levy, alongside Director Karlina, successfully guided this production into a spectacular work rich in quality and educational value. With a strong creative vision, they combined education, art, entertainment, and character development onto one grand stage.

Beyond the main cast, significant support came from the teachers and staff of Darma Bangsa School, who guided the rehearsal process leading up to the show. Months of dedicated preparation were undertaken, covering everything from acting, vocals, and dance to stage blocking and detailed production technicalities.

Interestingly, Grade 10 students were also involved as part of the production team, specifically in the areas of makeup and props. This involvement proves that the performance was not just a show, but a real learning medium for students to practice cooperation, responsibility, and the importance of collaboration in a major production.

More Than Just Entertainment

Through this performance, Darma Bangsa School reaffirmed its commitment to supporting student potential in both academic and non-academic fields. “Gajah Mada The Musical” became a platform for students to hone their:

  • Self-confidence and courage to perform in public.
  • Creativity and discipline.
  • Communication and teamwork skills.

More than just entertainment, this show provided a valuable life experience for all students involved. They learned that a great work can only be created through a long process, hard work, sacrifice, and a sense of responsibility toward their respective roles.

At the end of the performance, a standing ovation from the audience served as the perfect conclusion. Prolonged applause echoed through the room as a form of appreciation for the extraordinary dedication of the entire production team and cast. Many parents expressed how proud and moved they were to see the development of their children, who were able to perform so brilliantly on stage.
