SD Darma Bangsa Pencil Project: Fostering Entrepreneurship and Empathy through Share the Light

Pencil Project at SD Darma Bangsa is a practice-based learning activity held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the SD Darma Bangsa Basketball Court, involving all students from Grades 1 to 6. This program was designed as an entrepreneurship learning experience integrated with the core values of Darma Bangsa School: Analytic and Problem Solving, Confidence, Creativity, Discipline, Empathy and Kindness, Endurance, Fairness and Honesty, and Respect.

Through the Pencil Project, the school environment was transformed into an active and meaningful learning space. Students were directly involved in buying and selling activities, enabling them to understand basic economic concepts, appreciate the value of money earned through hard work, and develop communication and social interaction skills. The activity also fostered responsibility, honesty, and cooperation in every role they undertook.

The Pencil Project carried the theme “Red and White Spirit to Share the Light” as its main foundation. Students were encouraged not only to seek profit but also to cultivate empathy and social awareness by setting aside a portion of their earnings to help others. This process instilled the understanding that success is not measured solely by material gain, but also by the benefits that can be shared with others.

As a tangible expression of the Share the Light spirit, the distribution of the Pencil Project proceeds was carried out on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with a total amount of Rp44,671,400 collected. The funds were distributed to MI Al-Falah Muncak, Veterans, Panti Tresna Werdha, and a Cancer Foundation, in the form of assistance tailored to the needs of each recipient. The veterans received basic food packages as a gesture of respect and appreciation for their service. The Cancer Foundation received nutritional milk, cleaning supplies, diapers, and toys to support the physical and emotional needs of the beneficiaries.

In addition, Panti Tresna Werdha received personal hygiene kits, medicines, biscuits, and diapers to support the health and comfort of the elderly residents. Meanwhile, MI Al-Falah received educational learning aids, cleaning supplies, and facilities to support teaching and learning activities. This distribution process became a meaningful learning experience for students, showing them that the results of their efforts can have a real impact on the lives of others.

Through the entire series of Pencil Project activities, from implementation to distribution, Darma Bangsa School presented a holistic learning experience that integrates financial literacy, character building, and social responsibility. This program not only nurtures ethical entrepreneurial values but also instils empathy, gratitude, and a spirit of sharing that are expected to continue growing within the students. Ultimately, the Pencil Project concluded not merely with the calculation of sales results, but with deep reflection on the meaning of effort, responsibility, and care for others. The spirit of Share the Light is hoped to remain a guiding light in the learning journey and lives of SD Darma Bangsa students in the future.
