Phase B SLC at SD Darma Bangsa 2025: Unveiling the Creativity and Innovation of Young Researchers in Waste Management

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Hall B of SD Darma Bangsa was filled with energy and excitement as third and fourth-grade students held the Phase B Student-Led Conference (SLC). With the overarching theme “Smart Tech, Clear Earth – Together We Innovate for a Better Tomorrow,” participants showcased innovative projects as part of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) under the dimension of Gaya Hidup Berkelanjutan.

The specific theme for Phase B was “Peneliti Cilik Kelola Sampah.” This event was not merely an exhibition of student work, but a tangible representation of a learning process that combined technology, innovation, and environmental awareness. Students were encouraged to process information and ideas to create innovative solutions by recycling waste into useful and aesthetically pleasing objects, reflecting their care for the environment.

Prior to the event, the students engaged in a series of learning activities designed to enrich their understanding of waste management and environmental issues, such as:

  • Visiting a Final Waste Disposal Site (TPA) to observe the conditions and challenges of waste management firsthand
  • Touring the Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) Bandar Lampung to gain insights into the city’s waste management system
  • Studying the 4Rs concept: Reuse, Recycle, Reduce, and Replace as a foundational approach to sustainable waste handling

Through these experiences, students were able to design and create creative projects aimed at offering innovative solutions while also serving as educational tools for their communities.

During the highlight of the SLC, each student confidently presented their ideas, processes, and final projects to parents and teachers through various performances, ranging from mini-dramas and demonstrations to presentations, singing, and dancing—all centred on the message of becoming young agents of change for the environment.

Parents in attendance expressed pride and enthusiasm as they watched their children present their ideas clearly and showcase impressive creativity and courage. This moment served as strong evidence that with the proper guidance, every child has the potential to become a catalyst for positive change toward a better future.

Through this event, SD Darma Bangsa reaffirmed its commitment to creating a learning environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and the courage to dream big. Students not only learned theoretical knowledge but also experienced critical thinking and hands-on creativity that impact the world around them.

The Phase B SLC 2025 is a concrete step in nurturing early awareness and social responsibility, while sharpening essential 21st-century skills to face future challenges.
