The long journey of SMP Darma Bangsa towards the 2025 National Science Olympiad (OSN) is a story full of spirit, hard work, and pride. The OSN itself is the most prestigious science competition in Indonesia for junior high school students, featuring three contested fields:
Mathematics, Natural Sciences (IPA), and Social Sciences (IPS). To reach the national level, participants must pass a series of strict selections starting from the school, regency/city, up to the provincial level.
This year’s city-level selection took place on June 17–18, 2025, and was attended by 61,958 students from various regions. From that number, only 2,332 participants in the IPA field and 2,236 participants in the IPS field managed to pass to the next stage. At this stage, SMP Darma Bangsa successfully placed its students to advance to the provincial level, which was organized by the Talent Development Center (BPTI) along with the National Achievement Center of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). From the provincial selection, only the best 690 participants were entitled to advance to the semifinal.
Amidst the intense competition, two students from SMP Darma Bangsa, namely Akhtar Arjuna Digjaya (IPA field) and Rizki Fadlan Hersa (IPS field), managed to achieve extraordinary accomplishments. Both of them successfully broke through to the semifinal round held on September 10, 2025. Not stopping there, they once again demonstrated their resilience by qualifying for the national final along with 115 other finalists.
This achievement is even more special because Akhtar became the sole representative of a junior high school from Lampung Province in the IPA field, while Rizki was recorded as one of the three representatives from Lampung in the IPS field. Their success certainly cannot be separated from the role of the supervising teachers, discipline in training, and the full support of the entire SMP Darma Bangsa family.
The OSN 2025 final round was then held in Jakarta on September 21–27, 2025. At this stage, the finalists competed for gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as the “Honorable Mention” award for participants ranked 31–50. With thorough preparation and a high fighting spirit, Rizki Fadlan Hersa successfully won the bronze medal (3rd place) in the IPS field, while Akhtar Arjuna Digjaya obtained the “Honorable Mention” award in the IPA field. This success is tangible proof of the quality of education and guidance at SMP Darma Bangsa. Not only does it make the school proud, but Akhtar and Rizki’s achievements also bring honor to the name of Lampung Province on the national stage. Moreover, the story of their struggle serves as an inspiration for the younger generation of Indonesia to continue achieving, fighting without end, and making the best contributions for the nation.
With this achievement, SMP Darma Bangsa further solidifies its position as a school that produces future generations of Indonesia’s Golden Generation.
